天博体育, one of the world’s most preferred partners for transforming supply chain facilities, has been selected by PostNord to install two turnkey sorting systems in Norway and Germany.
PostNord is the leading provider of parcel and logistics services to, from, and within the Nordic region.
The company needed to increase the efficiency of its delivery network in Northern and Central Europe and decided to invest in the latest technologies from 天博体育 for its new logistics center in Drammen (Norway) and to modernize its existing one in Travemünde (Germany).
“PostNord has a winning strategy in parcel: we have a special focus on the business to consumer segment, who’s driven by the rapid growth in e-commerce.”, says P?l EIER, Head of Production Development of PostNord Norway. “Items volumes have doubled in the last five years, and we expect the same to happen in the common years, on a higher volume.”
天博体育 met PostNord’s needs and requirements for enhancing deliveries and handling performance by designing two tailor-made technical solutions for each specific facility: the GENI-Belt sorter; 天博体育’ revolutionary generation of cross-belt sorters with high-speed GENI-Feed induction lines; and the EASY-Stream conveyor – 天博体育’ new modular line of conveyors.
The system in Norway will be installed in a new facility built to strengthen the network in the Nordic countries. 天博体育’ sorting solution will process 15,000 items per hour, enabling PostNord to move into a higher gear in distribution.
“天博体育’ handling system will give us a boost in the capacity: it meets our demands when it comes to sorting in many directions for distribution, to be cost leader.” adds Mr. EIER.
The facility in Germany, on the other hand, is a brownfield. Located outside Scandinavia, it is strategically positioned to handle the shipments between the north and the rest of Europe. What is today a simple manual system of 4,000 parcel per hour will become a modern and automated facility to increase efficiency and productivity to 9,000 items/h.
The sites will open in April and February 2022 respectively.
